Sara Gaboardi, born in 2001, is an artist, author, and performer. She began her artistic studies at the Liceo Artistico and graduated with a diploma in set design in 2020. Always close to the world of dance, from a young age she studied musical theater, modern, contemporary, and hip-hop dance.
Since 2020, she has trained at ArteMente, Higher Education Center for Dance in Milan, where she graduated in 2023. During her years of study, she came into contact with various dance languages and national and international artists, delving into contemporary dance, floorwork, contact improvisation, and Tanztheater. She has danced in original creations by: Aida Vainieri, Alessio Maria Romano, Silvia Gribaudi, Philippe Kratz, Adriano Bolognino, Marco Laudani, Noemi Della Vecchia, Annalì Rainoldi, Nicola Galli, and Constanza Macras.
She was a Production Assistant for Giovanni Careccia’s creation From C. to You and a costume designer for Adriano Bolognino’s performance An Unhappy Happy Ending.
Even during her years of training, she became passionate about creation, beginning to work on original theatrical and site-specific projects. She has since embarked on a multidisciplinary path that unites art in the round with performance.
In September 2023, she became a stager and Assistant for Didactics at the ArteMente Center and, with a scholarship, began a choreographic residency as an author.
Also in 2023, she debuted with her work Sabbia at Teatro PimOff, later presenting it at events such as DANCE TAZ for Vapore d’Estate in Milan and the Bozzoli Festival 2024 in Rho (MI). She was then selected, along with Francesca Pagnini, for Affollate Solitudini TEENS, a project supporting authors under 25 by the MILANoLTRE Festival, with the piece APPARtenenza. They won the Absolute Beginners scholarship, which allows the two authors to expand the project.
In October 2024, she debuted with Can you hear me?, again collaborating with Francesca Pagnini, at the MILANoLTRE Festival, presenting the piece at the Rassegna DIFFUSA, promoted by Radic’Arte in Pasturana (AL), the Th!nk P!nk Festival by Fattoria Vittadini in Milan, the Presente Futuro festival at Teatro Libero in Palermo, and PRIMI TEMPI in collaboration with Fuoriprogramma Festival, Dominio Pubblico, and Orbita Spellbound at Teatro India in Rome.
In 2024, she worked on the staff of Milano Dancing City, a project to promote dance and audience education, supported by the Ministry of Culture.
In 2024, she has been attending Matrix Pro, the quarterly intensive dance training program of Mandala Dance Company, where she has the opportunity to work as a performer for the project NVED Nuovi Vettori Evolutivi Danza III Edition and for the show Riti di Passaggio for the Corrispondenze Festival, directed by Paola Sorressa.
Since 2024, she has been an Associate Artist of the Lost Movement Company.
Since April 2025, she has been attending I Corpi e le Voci della Danza, an Advanced Training Course for authors of corporal writing and the performing arts.
She is currently continuing her artistic journey with a multidisciplinary approach, exploring the profound themes of identity, belonging, and origins through movement and the body. Her research, imbued with questions and reflections, is expressed through contemporary dance, performance, and figurative art, integrating elements of set design, costume, light design, and audiovisuals. It’s an artistic path that questions and values the multiple facets of being, inviting a deep reflection on one’s own self.
